Bears LB Brian Urlacher retires

Brian Urlacher has retired after 13 stellar NFL seasons.  "After spending a lot of time this spring thinking about my NFL future, I have made a decision to retire," the former Chicago Bears star linebacker posted Wednesday on Whosay.com.

 

WWE looking to recruit cut NFL-ers

Dwayne Johnson unsuccessfully attempted to play pro football well before anyone smelled what "The Rock" was cooking in pro wrestling.  WWE is interested in trying to recreate that same show-business magic with NFL players passionate about the rough-and-tumble world of "sports entertainment."

 

League owners loan money for new Falcons stadiumThe Falcons have climbed another hurdle in their quest for a new stadium in Atlanta, receiving a fat $200 million loan from the NFL on Tuesday, according to NFL.com. League owners approved the money at the NFL Spring Meeting in Boston.

 

Will HOF add more contributors?The chances of an NFL player or head coach reaching the Pro Football Hall of Fame are slim.  The odds for a "contributor" to the game like a general manager or assistant coach are even longer.  Joe Horrigan believes that will change at some point.

 

Romo to miss at least three weeks

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo will miss at least three weeks of offseason workouts after a procedure to remove a cyst from his back.  The team's website reported Tuesday, the first day of organized team workouts, that Romo underwent the procedure last month and could return for the mandatory minicamp that starts June 11. He will be ready for training camp in July.
